Further Education and Training Certificate: Beauty and Nail Technology

The Further Education and Training Certificate in Beauty and Nail Technology is a one-year, full-time course designed to enhance your skills and knowledge in the beauty industry. This NQF Level 4 qualification equips you with essential task management and salon operation skills, covering a wide range of beauty services such as waxing, facials, make-up, nail technology, and more.

The purpose is to develop the self-directed skills and knowledge of those employed in the beauty industry as nail technologists, beautician or make-up artists. It is designed for people who wish to extend their range of skills and knowledge of the industry and those wishing to follow a career in beauty industry. The qualification is aimed at developing the necessary task skills, task management skills and job/role management skills of those working or intending to work in the beauty industry. The learners will be able to integrate the generic salon requisite skills, knowledge, values and attitudes with those specific to the beauty industry, ensuring the business in which they operate runs smoothly and offers excellent customer service according to industry standards.

Admission requirements

Grade 11 and qualified in Communication Skills at NQF Level 3 and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.

Recognition of Prior Learning:

The structure of this Unit Standard based Qualification makes provision for the Recognition of Prior Learning possible in that it can be achieve in whole or in part, if the learner is able to demonstrate competence in the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes implicit in the Beauty and Nail Technology qualification. Recognition of Prior Learning will be done by means of Integrated Assessment of the specific outcomes of the associated unit standards and of the Exit Level Outcomes of the qualification. All Recognition of Prior Learning is subject to quality assurance by the relevant accredited Education and Training Quality Assurance Body and is conducted by a registered assessor.
